Oh, what a tangled web we weave

Sigh.
Sterling is going to end up in prison.

He came home and announced to me he found a $5 Starbucks gift card. What luck, thought I. A couple of hours later he was talking to his mother. Describing exactly how or where he had found the card.
"He didn't tell me that"! I yelled at the phone.
Once he got off the phone, I started asking questions.
Sterling proceeded to tell me that he found it in a locker, with an envelope and no name. "Not IN the locker, but stuck between the frame and door".
"Like when you give a friend a xmas card and they aren't home"? I asked.
"No...not like that...like it was in the locker and someone pulled out all their stuff and the card kinda fell out but didn't hit the ground". He said.
"So...you took a card, out of a locker, that someone had bought for someone else". Said I.
"No...you can call Victor. He'll tell ya".
"I don't need to call anyone. You've told me enough". I finished.

I stuck the card in my pocket and went outside. Five minutes passed and Sterling came out after me.
"OK, here's what really happened". He said.
He proceeded to tell me that he and Victor found it on the ground, blah blah blah. RIIIIGHT. He tried to convince me that even if I turned the card in, with the span of time between when the card was turned in and Christmas break, he wouldn't get the card if nobody claimed it. ITS A $5 GIFT CARD! LET IT GO!
After the fussin and fightin was over, the card stayed in my pocket
