What I learned at school today.

A handful of years ago, I was sitting outside on the patio relaxing. Sterling was inside playing video games. After about 30 minutes, he came outside to join me. "Dad...did you know that in Halo...I had my energy sword and stuck a guy from the flood. There was a grunt in the corner...but he didn't help so I stuck him...he went straight up in the air and was on a warthog and I charged my plasma pistol and fired at him..." At this point he may as well have been speaking some dialect of the now dead language of the Maya. He paused, saw the cigarette in my hand and announced that he was learning about drugs and alcohol in school. "Dad...did you know that cigarettes have nicotene in them?"
"Yes" I replied.
"Did you know that nicotene is bad for you?"
"Yes" I replied again.
"Why do you smoke then?"
As I drew in the smoke to give myself more time I said "they are addictive and I can't quit. That's why you should never smoke."
I then took a drink of my vodka/soda. "What's that dad?"
"Vodka" said I.
"Is that like wine?" Sterling asked.
"Yes."
"You know wine is alcohol and alcohol is bad for you?" "Yes" I answered again. "Why do you drink it then?" I took a deep breath and very shrewdly asked, "Is halo a two person game?" "Ya...wanna play?" And we went inside.
