I love my son dearly. Yet, trying to raise a 12 year old with a sense of time/priority is proving rather difficult/trying on my patience. Tonight, as always during the school year, I told Sterling dinner would be served at 6:00.
I finished my dinner alone by 6:30. 6:35 and the dishes were away. I covered Sterling's dinner and put it in the fridge. I decided to send him a text to let him know dinner was ready. Upon doing so, I reviewed all previous texts I had sent to him. Here they are, in order, mostly without reply, beginning July 26th. I think I see a trend...
"Call me back"
"Lunch"
"Dinner"
"What's the plan?"
"I'm home"
"Let me know when your mom picks you up, please."
"Forget something?"
"Grandma is here. Come home."
"Finish up with your girlfriend and get in here!" (he had been playing with his friend, James)
"Call me"
"Where are you?"
"I've been trying to get ahold of you for two hours. Come home."
"Tick tock"
"Call me"
"Come home and eat"
"Come home and eat"
"Dinner at 730 now"
"Come home and eat"
