It's deja vu all over again!

Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.  Fool me over and over again...my goddamn name is Sterling.

Last month, Sterling's mom bought him a smart phone.  I felt it was a bad decision as Sterling has trouble taking care of his possessions.  Said smart phone lasted about 24 hours before it got taken away by his teacher.  Taken because he was playing with it in class.  I refused to go and get it, so his mother got it back for him about a week after it was taken from him.  Then, one week later, he forgot it was in his pocket when he was hanging around a pool and some kid pushed him in the pool.  He even swam for two to three minutes before he remembered it was in his pocket.

So, for about three weeks, he did extra chores at his grandma's house and saved his normal allowance from me and bought a new one.

I felt good about things because he lost something prized and then worked hard to earn money to get the prized item back.

Five days after he got the phone back, it was confiscated at school again.  This time he tried to tell me it was because he forgot to silence the phone and I texted him and it made noises and the teacher took it.  Of course it's my fault.  It was my text that made his phone ring.  It couldn't be his fault!
Don't believe it for a second people.  It wasn't my text.  I'm sure it was the same reason as the last time...he was showing it off to the other kids.

I knew he wasn't ready for the responsibility of a nice new phone and this just goes to prove my theory.  He cannot and will not take care of his possessions.
